So from those that ordered your truck can you tell me if there are any tricks?
I will order from X-Plan and get them to put the $3000 PCO on it too. I already printed out the sheet from Ford with X-plan so I should know what it costs.
Someone said Do NOT pay for it, wait till it comes in. Is there a Deposit amount that they will make me put down? Anything else I should know?
I am going to go to the last Ford I ordered from in 2005 (for my 2006 first group off the line). It was easy then but I can't remember if I paid for it when I ordered or not. I just remember that it was easy to do and I am sure I got taken for some money but it was worth while.
Edit: My build: F-350 XLT, Crew, 4x4, SB, 6.2L Gasser, Prem Pkg, Snow Plow Pkg (which makes me get the Defrost Rear window{stupid} and the PowerScope Mirrors), Carpet DELETE, Console front seats, Spruce Color
2nd Edit: Anyone know if it is TRUE that if you are a 'Contractor" for one of the listed Xplan Comp what you have to show? I can't say who I am a Contractor for due to SSS (Secret Squirrel ****) But if all I need to do is show my Badge then I'm good I should be working there till Next year

I would build it on the Ford site like you want it. Have them print you out the build sheet to ensure everything is there. I had to throw down a $500 deposit to ensure I was serious. He said unless it's a unicorn build that he couldn't sell, I could get the deposit back. It's that easy... Well, unless you have a trade in and that is a different ballgame.
Just be aware that when you build it on the ford site at home all the options you select will NOT be able to make it on the truck your order from the dealership. The site lets you add everything you want but when it comes down to it some things wont work together. Yeah my deposit was also $500 and they did a credit check.

I don't think you can build it with things that don't work. It should automatically change things and you have to say Yes or No. Seems to be that way when I do it.
I'll edit my OP to list what I am ordering
Dealers are allocated order spots based on previous sales history so I recommend you go to dealer that does high truck volumes. After 4 weeks from ordering my truck wasn’t even scheduled to be built or VIN Assigned.. The dealer had to get the factory rep to “give them another allocation”
Here I’d the text exchange fro the dealer back then.

Yeah I thought the same thing but I must of built my truck 20 times on the ford site but when i went in to order it I had to change a few things. Like my truck is a lariat sport package with 20 inch wheels and it would not let me add the power running boards. On the site it worked just fine and they even tried to submit it like that but it got kicked back a few days after it was ordered.
Hi Lin -
My sales guy was the fleet manager and also responsible for ordering all the vehicles at the dealership. He said they were the highest volume dealership around and could submit the order this coming week.
I sent him a link to the truck I built online, then Wednesday morning we stopped by on our way out of town on a road trip to California. He had entered all the info into the order system (side note: Ford should let the dealers submit the link so they don't have to type everything in again!).
He showed us a sheet with all options and two columns for MSRP and Invoice prices. He added by hand the doc fee, title fee, registration fee, and then subtracted the incentives, and PCO. He pointed out the registration was estimated based on our address, so there may be a few changes when the truck arrives. I signed the printout to show it looked correct.
He had me forward the PCO email I got from Ford. Originally over the phone he said he would take a $500 refundable deposit by check or card, but in person he told us that he can sell trucks like that all day long, and didn't need any deposit.
He said he would send the final invoice after he placed the order this coming week. I asked about a DORA, and he said he doesn't ever even see those anymore. Not sure what that means, hopefully someone can chime in and tell us.
Due to the build I wanted the dealer asked for $1000 deposit as it is not a normally optioned truck for them ( even though they are the highest volume truck dealer in the state).
Lwb crew, 250 4x2 lariat loaded out with a few exceptions, with the 7.3. No sunroof ( Ive had issues with bmw and ford sunroofs)
I have ordered before and they did not require a deposit, as it was a more “normal” build
The current issue is there are not many days left to get a 2020 order in before the books close and there is a delay on build allocation because there is either no tow cameras available or there are issues with the ones they have in stock.

I thought they can order up till Sept for November build?
What issues are they having that you list here?
I placed my order with a small volume dealer on 6/15. I did my build on the ford website, then was able to send it directly to the dealer of my choice. I picked my particular dealer for their customer service, not their volume. That might delay my build, but we shall see. The dealer told me they were hoping for a build date around the second week of August, but I haven't heard back yet. I don't have a VIN yet, and I did pay a $500 deposit. I have never ordered anything like this before, so I'm kinda in the dark too. We did place an order in Feb for the same truck, and cancelled it when COVID hit, and the stock market took a nose dive. I cancelled the order 6 weeks after placing it, and there till had been no VIN issued, and the order was with the same dealer. I do know, the first order was placed as a stock order, with a priority code of 80 - the second order was placed as a 'retail' order (I think), and a priority code of 2. I did ask the dealer when I made the order if it would make a difference placing the order as a special, or retail order vs a stock order, she said she didn't think so, but then placed the order differently the second time.

I think there is an issue with the tire pressure monitoring system they offer on their site, for the trailer tow package, or camera package. Not exactly sure, don't remember what I read but I do remember it didn't affect the camera package perse, just the TPMS system that goes with it. Please feel free to verify that.

Last day to order a 2020 is july 10th,
last day to change the order is August 13th. The last production for 2020’s is first week of November for both plants, first run for 2021’s is like second week of November
On my f150’s ive had the sunroof trays break right about the time the normal and extended warranty expired. Would have cost around $1800 to fix both times, my bmw 5 wagon was basically a uboat. Any time it rained the sun roof drains would not drain and water would fill under the load floor in the back end, where all the ecu’s and battery were located.

dealer called me and confirmed it was the camera system or the camera with tpsm for trailers.
