SD passengers seats

Having ordered a new SD extended cab, Inever realized how little room there was in the passengers seat footwell area. I took the wife for a ride again in a friends SD and she mentioned that her feet were really crowded. I had her drive and had to agree, there's not much room if you're long legged. Anyone notice if this is a problem over the long term?

Hey Neighbor!

I have not noticed this on my SD but my wife is very short at 5-2" I am not much taller at 5-8"

My dad rode shotgun and he is 6 foot and he had no complaints.

I just went to the dealer with my 5'6'' 160 lb 13 yr old stepson specifically to put him in the back of the F-350 Supercab.

In a word: No chance. His knees were pressed hard into the back of the front seat with them moved as far foward as I could possible drive from. Not only that but the rear bench seat back angle is near vertical.

Here in SoCal you have to be prepared for roadtrips of 5-6 hr average for anything worth doing. Not in the back of a Supercab.

Get the Crewcab if it's not too late.

sinjin is right ... try to get the crew cab if possible. I test drove the Supercab, and all was great until I sat in the back (I'm 6ft 235lbs). Then I saw the crew cab, tried it, and loved it. I took my brother (he's 5' 10") and he sat in the back while I drove, and he had no complaints, then I sat in the back seat with the captain's chair all the way back and I still have plenty of room.

fn250,

Please tell me how you like the V-10. I'm leaning towards the diesel but can't justify the cost for the miles I'll put on it camping.

Also, is the smaller gas tank proving to be a problem or not?

What have you seen for highway mileage?

"CREW CAB!"
"CREW CAB!"
"CREW CAB!"

i'm sure your dealer will let ya change yer mind. its REALLY not that much more money. you'll KICK yerself EVERYTIME you use the rear and just WISH you'd spent the few extra 'dollars/month' to give ya all the room of the CC. it REALLY is much larger, AND better angle on seat back, nifty fold-down armrest, etc...

(i was looking SC all the way, but then I sat in back (6', 225#) and said "Uhhh... nope", then went home, got my Tape Measure out and checked the Garage, then back to dealer to check the truck... Now have that CC SB sitting in my garage w/ inches to spare).

$0.02~ ("its only money")

Hey Neighbors... I completely agree. My wife was worried about the cost difference between the SC and the CC but when we drove many of them she said the cost for the room was WELL Worth the few extra $$$. and I'm glad I did it. I would be kicking my self now if I didn't get the CC.

As far as the 6.8 goes ... I love it. I'm really happy with my choice. I have a 5000# trailer that I pull like 2-3 times a year, and sometimes I even forget it's back there.

Regarding the tank... it would be nice to have the extra 9-10 gallons. But I just couldn't do the long bed. (Truck barely fits in my driveway, lengthwise right now). I just have to remember to fill up whenever possible so as to avoid getting into trouble in those areas of desert where it's just me and the road.

Mileage has been around around 13-15 daily driving including highway, and towing around 9-12.

Since the diesel doesn't get the same incentives as the gas at least until year end I want to keep an open mind.

Thanks fn250.

I guess I didn't do a very good job at posting my question. I meant in the passenger bucket seat in the front. I'm not even planning on using the rear seat as I ordered it with the rear seat delete option. I'll be building my own rear storage/tool/stereo speaker enclosures in the rear seat area. My wife is concerned that she doesn't have much foot room in the front passenger wells. My wife's 5'10" and has long legs.

I know what you mean Sparky, I hate sitting in that seat, my feet always feel cramped, and I can't really get comfortable. Luckily my wife usually sits there, and she's only 4' 11" so her feet never even touch the floor! But I guess it would be a problem if anyone else were to sit there.

Yep, the FRONT PASSENGER SEAT does indeed leave something to be desired as far as legroom is concerned. If it wasn't humped from the center (near the passenger's right foot) it would't be nearly as bad... it's a shame, too. Without this inconvenience, the truck really would be a rolling couch (darn though, the driver's seat is sooooooo confortable to sit in for extended periods of time).
