Harder than it should be
I live just 10 miles or so from four different towns and maybe 20 miles from the 'cities'. All of which is no help if I want to do something simple like get a car fixed.
My wife's health is poor, so I don't want to be stuck anywhere waiting for repairs.
- No reputable taxis around any more
- Uber and Lyft -- maybe, but who knows. They're never guaranteed and I don't think that there are a lot of them around here
- Rental cars -- seem to be scarce and bleeping expensive
Thought about an electric bike or a small motorcycle/scooter -- in warmer weather. E bikes are fairly spendy, limited in range and I guess limited to 15 mph! New M/Cs and scooters ( the small ones(!) ) are 3 or 4 K. Used ones seem to be fairly nonexistent except for some 60's classics that are also $$.
If somebody knows a trick here, I'd be glad to here it.
Thanks,
hj
With your proximity to other towns and other cities, Im at a loss as to what the problem is. I dont use taxis or uber/lift but I see them EVERYWHERE. Rental cars I haven't looked into lately, but they had thousands of them just sitting in lots because of Covid. If they are allowed to rent them out there should be no shortage. Used motorcycles are plentiful, newer, older, sport, cruiser, scooters.
It sounds like you must be in an area of the country with a very small population. How about riding public transportation, like the bus?
