OK Guys... We all know that the Monkey Face is the best! LOL!
vrod2003, I wasn't bagging on your truck at all. Very nice truck like I said. Fenders can be change back to OEM Year correct. Bumpers are easy added or removed. But your haven't told use what you want it to be or if you want to just drive it the way it is? We have guys from the Darkside (We have cookies) that aren't purest.... And then we have the Purest in our group. Which by the way makes this one of the best sites on the net!!! Don't be afraid to ask questions as we are all lovers of these old rides.
Hey Vrod,
Don't sweat it - you have a nice truck. We used Midwest Early Ford for our body parts...
we replaced our fenders with fiberglass as well at $265ea. What drivetrain are you thinking about?
It's nice to see another '49 - '50 getting ready for the road.
Where are you at in New Mexico? We have several really experienced members out your way.

Sorry for the delayed response, I’ve been swamped out in the field. As to where In NM I live it’s Alamogordo, about 90 miles north of El Paso.I did find the glass fenders at Midwest early ford(thanks for that). As for the drive train, I’m not set in stone. I’m going to go through the flathead 8 just to say I did, never had one apart. I do want to put a drop on it and add some 50s , I just like the way that looks. To tell the truth I wasn’t expecting to bring the truck home. I saw it behind a Ford dealership in Grants NM . The owner said it had been there for over 20 years. I threw out a number and he said take it away. I’ll stop rambling now, I’m sure I’ll have more questions before this is over so thanks again for all the input.
Hey Vrod,
You mentioned "putting a drop on it". We replaced our rear axle with an Explorer 8.8 & flipped the springs …
very straight forward and it lowers the stance. Took us 2 weekends and we got disc brakes, 3.73 highway cruising friendly gears,
& limited diff. We also went with a Mustang II front suspension.... much more involved & expensive but it lowered the truck 3 to 4 inches
with just the standard set up... no dropped spindle.
Good luck over there. Keep us posted on how your Flathead 8 investigation goes.
