Rear window latch

Hi guys,

My rear window latch broke some days ago. It was a new one because the old was broken too so, question is, is there any good/solid latch I can use that doesn’t broken so easy.? Any metal, or better plastic.? Which one do you recommend to buy,.? Vendor.?

Thank you.

I still prefer the metal ones, though I've never had bad luck with the plastic ones yet. Probably my mild climate in the area helps in that regard.
I don't know who sells different choices anymore, but there are many different sizes too, so you have to know which one you have based on the size and the spacing of the screws.

Did you replace the previous one yourself? Or was it done before you got the truck?
My original window latch was different from my replacement window from CR Laurence, even though I think they are the same company that made them for Ford in the first place.

Good luck. Maybe LMC truck is a good source, or Jeff's but either way, make sure it's an original slider or that you can verify the size and type of latch yours has.

Hi Paul, thank you very much for the detailed info.
I also live in a mild climate, maybe now is warmer! But what I think is the plastic wasn’t of good quality so it beaks easily.
yes, we replaced ourselves the old latch, but can’t tell if that was the original as my friend did it when the truck was still in the US, now at home in Ibiza Island.. I mean he knows the kind of latch that works for my window. Said O’R sells it so quality wouldn’t be the best I believe!
So alright, I will tell him to get a pair so I will have a spare one in case it breaks again.!

Thank you Paul,

Plastic will weather and break again why waste the $? Sorry I do not know of a replacement one that is like the old metal ones. In the interim get some round bar stock and bend 4 90*'s in the middle of it ( for a removal handle) and drop them in the bottom slot/ groove (on each side) as a blocking/locking device.

Also, what could be used is sliding window locks from the hardware store. They're an aluminum block that slides over the frame and has a thumb screw on em. We've used em for years as a secondary locking mechanism. Bought some a few weeks ago for a separate project so, I at least know they are still around.

I am Josep66's buddy in Texas.
I see that the Walmart.com latch is actually sold and shipped by DK Hardware. Walmart sells advertising space on their website so you have to watch carefully and read the fine print when ordering something there. The vendors who sell on Walmart's website have been caught selling offensive items a few times which gives Walmart a black eye.
Thanks for your assistance.

I am not know for "watching carefully" and or "reading the fine print". Lol At least DK has them, I need to order me a couple to have on hand and change one plastic one over to the metal kind.

Gotta be careful as well. Ordering from walmart online is known for locking up credit cards. Walmart is a third hand, they dont have the product but, have a 3way ordering system. You pay them and they pay original advertiser and get some of the proceeds of the sale. Go directly if you can

When you get them in hand and or installed can you let us know the quality of the part please? I have seen some metal latches riveted on and even some held on with real small sheet metal screws.
