My last car had climate control and I really loved it. I have a '98 EB and it just has the old fashioned *****... Is there a way to install climate control, and would it be a HUGE task? I would imagine it would consist of installing the new panel in the dash, and maybe adding a few thermometers?
It would be a HUGE task that even a professional wouldnt consider getting into. Many sensor mods, wiring changes, actuator changes, etc. If you want EATC you simply have to fork over the money when you buy.
southprk.... This has been discussed in several forums including this one many times. It can be done, but there are major changes to electrical system that need to be completed. I have a 97 and would love to have ECC but it's not really feasible. They didn't offer this option until 99' so us first generation Expy owners are SOL!
Find a 99 donor Expy, and get a wiring diagram and get busy. I wanted to attempt this, but the parts involved in the swap, the time it would take, and the cost, just didn't seem worth it to me.
I may do that.. wonder how much a junkyard would charge for the required parts. It may not be worth it because I use the AC less than 10 times per year, but I hate getting too hot, then too cold, etc - especially when my radio's loud I have to keep a rear window cracked to cool the amps. Any idea's on where to find the wiring diagram?
If thats the case I would say forget it. If you lived in Death Valley and used it full blast every day all year round it might be worth it.........................
While I can't speak to how to do the swap, if you figure out a way to do it, let me know. I have climate control in my 2000 EB, and would rather have the old-fashioned *****. That said, does any one know how difficult of a swap going that way would be?
