Question acid dipping parts

Is it better to acid dip or sandblast bigger parts, such as running boards, fenders, etc? I have read alot about sandblasting as it can make the metal warp, so I was wanting to look into acid dipping them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've had one car sandblasted. The guy used soda and walnut shells. An experienced man but I still ended up with some damage. The hood/bracing glue broke loose and the hood warped. I won't even mention the mess I had to deal with for weeks as hidden soda appeared out of nowhere.

Dipping works but it also has its problems. Hidden chemicals can reappear and damage your new paint.

Personally, I use sandpaper.

A lite duty sandblaster won't warp the metal. A big mega horsepower one probably would.

I can get most of the rust with a sander and flap-disc grinder. I wonder if I could get some muriatic acid, put it in a spray bottle and get the tight corners and stuff.

For stripping, I use 32 grit on a DA sander and then clean it up with 80 grit. For the tight areas, I use a pad similar to scotch-brite, on a die grinder.

$120 WILL GET YOU A LIGHT DUTY SANDBLASTER THAT IS PERFECT
FOR THOSE BIGGER PARTS WITH NO DAMAGE. CHEAPER THAN THE ALTERNATIVES.
