Hi, new member here. I have a 95 f150 xlt with a 5.8 I just finished rebuilding it last week. It started right up no problem, not even a check engine light, and idles just fine no smoke or anything but about a minute after running it starts to drop rpms and blowing white smoke untill it slowly dies. Giving it gas while this is happening just makes it die faster. I do have a coolant leak on the lower intake at the back of the engine that I need to fix i don't know if it could be related or not, and the truck smells like gas really badly while its running. This is my first project car so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

You said white smoke, is the engine drinking coolant? If so then something did not go right when you rebuilt that engine or something was cracked maybe?
