CP4 questions

I just bought a 2013 F350 with 216k miles on it. I didnt shy away from the high mileage because the glove box had a stack of receipts showing oil changes every 5-6k from new. It was a company truck from Texas with zero rust. It does have several thousand idle hours as well. I'm looking at a CP4 disaster prevention kit but I have some questions. I've seen the Exergy mprop which claims to stop contamination. Would a DPK be needed if I used the Exergy mprop? With these miles would a new CP4 be the best route along with a DPK. Exergy sells a 2015+ pump with the mprop already installed, but would that require any additional parts while i"m in there such as fuel lines or gaskets? I'm using the truck primarily to tow my travel trailer and plan on keeping it for a while.

The screen in the energy product is only 25 microns so it will let 24 micron or smaller thru

the bypass kit sends all roller bearing related metal fragments back to the tank where the 20 micron main filter and 5 micron engine bay filter will trap them . 4 microns or smaller will still get thru .

aftermarket fuel pump such as air dog will trap down to 2 microns.

the other issue with the energy product is as the screen gets clogged, it’s a service event to clean it out, whereas the bypass kit just involves normal user replaceable filters.

I would probably just go with the DPK and run with it.

I don't like replacing parts, just in case. Sometimes that makes sense, like when you are doing a timing chain you might as well replace the water pump, that kind of thing, but not in this case.

If the pump breaks with the kit on there, well, it does prevent the disaster, so just flush the tank and the lines and add the new pump then.

My two cents...

If I were in your shoes, I’d do a new Exergy pump with their valve and call it a day.

x3 on the Disaster Prevention Kit.

This is the one I am going to go with.
