First time here. Don't pick on me too much.
I have a 66 F100 Custom Cab with a stock 352. I am planning to swap the motor and tranny from my 76 T-Bird (460). How many mods will I have to make? And would it be better to use the elec. ignition from the T-Bird or should I change it to points? Thanks for any info.
If you search back through the archives a little, and on the FE engine forum, this swap is questioned as to having any real advantage. 460 is not a bad engine, don't get me wrong. But it's not lighter, it's not really that much cheaper to build, etc.
A 390 is a bolt-in. A 460 is not. Both will give you the same result, more-or-less. My argument is, why go through all the extra work to get not-much-further ahead?
(Lemme guess; you already have the 460)
Anyway, I would definately use electronic ignition, if not the factory system, then convert a points distributor with a Petronix kit.
BTW, by keeping an FE engine in there, your truck will be worth more in the long term.
