You would definitely get the average of those 100 trailers, but that could be very different from the average of the typical trailer you might tow. My little 5x8 utility trailer has about a foot less ball height than my 12K TT, the average between those two wouldn't make for a decent height for either one in actual use.
If you’re trying to get an average for a drop hitch, then the short answer is the averages for travel trailers can vary a lot. Some frames were set high and lots of people added up using rise shanks, older trailers tended to be lower framed and a much lower ball height. If you have a model of the style of trailer you’re looking at, you could likely get close for a ball height. And by close I mean within 3 or 4 inches. My travel trailer, top of ball, is level at 20 inches.
Just went out and measured mine, '14 Jayco 338RETS sitting on upgraded 7K axles and springs (from 5200lb) and on 16"s (vs stock 15"s) with the TT level it's exactly 29" to the top of the ball mount, it has the mid frame type mount. The driveway has a very slight grade to it so the truelevel measurement is closer to 27" I think.

27” makes a lot of sense.
mine was between 25” and 26” and I’m rolling on 14” tires.
so I guess if you are going to buy a hitch and hope that it works for everything, you need one that will adjust down to 14” all the way up to about 27”
im actually glad that my coupler is so high. If it were lower like the ones where the tongue is below the frame, I would have a hard time getting my coupler low enough. My hitch unloaded is at 20”, so it takes a fairly long shank for get that much drop on a WDH.
Well, I have a rapid hitch with a 6" drop and I use that for small trailers, utility, enclosed and boats, that sort of thing, but for WD hitch I purchased this shank...
I'm pretty sure it will work for 'most' travel trailers, but it is not as easy to adjust up or down.
