I have real bad wheel hop with my 73 coyote powered f100. stock style leaf spring rear just shackle and spring hangar lowering kit. anybody have any issues using caltracs.
Just another traction device, there have been many types over the years. What could go wrong. If you do use these replace the U-bolts "NEVER REUSE U-BOLTS".
The stock springs are awfully soft. I would build actual track bars before I did caltracs. I did mine with all the parts coming from Ruff Stuff Specialty. Did mine in 1.25 DOM with bushings on the frame side and heim joints with adjusters on the axle side.
Was thinking of building my own, did you keep it inside the frame? I just finished full exhaust really don't want to re-do it as it takes up a lot of room.

Everything is from the bottom of the frame flange down.
Anyone know what Ford does to the F-150's today or do they have wheel hop also.
They have thicker leafs in the pack and much different progressive spring rates. The trucks are also substantially heavier. They do still experience hop in the right circumstances.
'17 F150 SC 6.5 bed, standard load, 8.8 axle, 2.7 EB. It will spin one tire smoothly in the wet. It breaks the tires loose after a little turbo lag on dry pavement.
ONE time I engaged the electronic LSD by pulling the 4x2/4x4 selector out. INSTANT wheel hop on wet pavement. Breaking stuff level.
Anything with leaf springs will wind up and hop. Simple traction bars are probably enough unless you are going to put big rubber on it and race. In which case you'll be finding the next weak link.

Thanks was curious, some of the older big engine cars would add half leaf to spring pack, cave man traction bar?
The CalTrack design is intended to do more than defeat wheel hop. It is supposed to use some of that torsional energy to push the wheels downward and thereby improve traction.
The original application was for Super Stock (now a nostalgia class) running a '68 Cobra Jet Mustang where track bars were/are not allowed and traditional "slapper" traction bars were not as effective. Calvert Racing also sells an innovative mono-leaf spring, shocks and wheelie bar.
very interesting , I already have them coming so going to try them . Only problem I see is I have the lowering spring hangar brackets, not sure they will fit up into spring hangar bracket as the spring sits way up into bracket might have to do some mods.. thanks for all the replies very helpful
Do you have the axle flip model as JP3 showed in his post or the model for the stock suspension where the axle is beneath the springs? The latter model is shown in Calvert Racing's instructions for truck install.
