(jk) OK its a 4.6. How many miles? What year? Have you done the routine maintainence as suggested by your owners manual?
All else being equal and not having much info...
Hard start+ rough idle = bad IAC valve.

Where on Long island do you live? I grew up in Westbury. I think it's the IAC. It has 15,000 miles and it's been a real lemon so far. It has piston slap, and it's had this starting problem before. It's at Ford now.

I'm in Malverne. A few miles south and west of Westbury.
15,000 miles, huh? Not really enough to "muck" up your IAC. Maybe you got a bad one? Let us know what happens. Good luck with your truck in the future.
