88 460 head swap

Can a set of early model heads such as 1972 or 1973 be used on a 1988 engine with F.I. ? I just want to swap the heads and use the F.I. intake, is this possible?

Does the f.i. intake use a different port design?

fuel injected 460s had its own head design with smaller valves. i think what you want is the 72cc DOVE heads or C8VE high compression heads. the 1972 and on are the smog heads low compression. The efi wont be able to compinsate with out using chips and a lot of fiddling around.

C8, C9 and DO heads all had 75-78cc combustion chambers. They'll fit on any 429/460 block, the intake port surface angle is different on the EFI heads to accomdate the EFI intake manifold, which won't fit on the earlier heads without serious work.
