Torque advise

Went from a 150-250 and to get my travel trailer and truck level I need to lower my ball assembly on my weight distribution hitch. I can't remember the make of it as I've had it for years. Is there a standard torque spec for these bolts?thanks guys.

3/4” grade 8 bolt: fine thread 312’ #s, coarse thread 282’ #s
If I remember correctly my Pro Series, Reese’s budget WD, torqued in the 260s.

If it's an equalizer hitch its suppose to be 250 on the main 2 bolts holding the hitch head to the draw bar.

Mine are as tight as my electric impact will get them.

north of 250 but south of 300. Right in the range specified by Reese.

definitely go by the bolt size and grade.

If you've had that hitch for years, as you say, you may want to consider replacing those bolts with new ones. Torquing bolts does cause "fatigue" and just for piece of mind, personally I would purchase new ones and then torque them to the specs they need to be. Make sure that you buy the exact same spec (or higher) rated bolts. Towing is an area I never take any shortcuts and I always have a tendency to "overkill" for some margin of error so to speak.

I was thinking the same thing, going to do that after this short trip!

Bolts don’t fatigue unless they are over stressed.

don’t over torque them and they will out last your tow vehicle no matter how many times you torque them.
