When would or dis you tune your truck? On my 14 F150 I had it about a year and a half before I got an X4 and tunes from 5 star. They were awesome! The truck was a totally different animal once tuned. Since I traded my 150 in on my 250 i returned it to stock and still jave the X4. 5 star said it will work on my 19 250 i just need an email tune. I would do the 87 daily tow. But how long would you wait to tune it?
In general I would clock a couple thousand miles and drive for a few months to make sure the truck is not a lemon. For gassers, how strict are dealers towards tuned trucks? I know when it comes to diesel, people are paranoid about dealer finding out.
I did d-lete at 4400 miles and truck was 6 months old. Some people do it straight off the lot. Wouldn't want to drop money into a lemon plus d-leted trucks add a layer of complication when having to go to dealer.
gasser....tune it up. if its NA i don't see how a email tune can do all that much without headers/CAI but i could be wrong. those guys have killer stuff for the ecoboosts. that explorer ST is dope

yea i'm kinda the same way, with my 6.7 i''ll delete in another year or so when i'm getting close to being out of warranty anyways.

jk you deleted at 4400 lol, thats awesome
The timing seemed right because at the time the EPA just did a huge crackdown and the diesel shops scrubbed all traces of delete stuff off their websites. I was worried I wouldn't be able to get hold of tunes so I had a make a move. It also helped that the place I got my tunes from was having a 15% sale. I'm at 6700 miles now and the truck runs pretty nice.
I tuned my 2013 F150 with the 5.0, naturally aspirated. My sole purpose for the tune was to update the transmission strategy since it really irritated me the way it acted when towing in stock form. With 87 octane and a naturally aspirated engine, I'm not sure how much additional power, if any, that was added with the tune. I think the 'seat of your pants' feel you get is the reduction in the drive by wire system and crisper, quicker shifting. With my 2018 and 2019 F250 6.2s, I don't mind the stock strategy so I haven't found the need or want to tune.

If you don’t mind coming out of pocket for any “possible” powertrain issues while still under the factory warranty that might happen because of a tune....... then by all means, do it now.
However, if you don’t feel this way, wait until the factory warranty has expired.
Question.........why do you think you need more power and what’s going to dramatically change for your SD that it’s not already doing.

honestly in the 2 weeks i have had the truck it has been fantastic. This weekend i will be towing with the larger tires so i will see how it does. I listed the tuner on the marketplace. Like i said so far trucks been great and at this point i dont know that i need to tune it.
The main thing that 5 Star does is change the shift strategy nothing noticeable in power gains. Throttle is more responsive and tranny shifts way better.
I got an SCT x4 and tunes from 5 Star 4 months after I bought my 14 F150. Did not need any more power, but the transmission felt like a bowl of mashed potatoes and I couldn't stand it. Would downshift at the slightest headwind. Big improvement. Zero regret on not waiting for the warranty to be up.

tuned and data logged my 2018 F250 Lariat 6.2 at 1200 miles. 5Star 93 daily tow for 22k miles now. Put back to stock for first time in 2 years for the led DRL dimming reflash and what a difference, for that 1 week.
