Been so long I can't remember why I replaced my original signal switch, but it happened. New one worked. Nearly two years later truck is back on the road and the cancel cam went out on me. Wouldn't release the right turn signal. Wheel clicked passed when you turned then a hard click back and the blinker kept a ticking. So I pull the wheel and the arm on the cam just buckles. Seem to remember the signal switch was about $35 when I replaced it last and a doorman help cam is $20, so I price a new switch and that filthy beggar is $80 these days. Not sure who made that call but I hope they wake up ten minutes before their alarm every day for the next year, then they sleep through it the year after that. SO anyway, I get the cam. It looks better than what was in the switch for sure, bit beefier on the release arms. But it's bare, have to swap the contacts and the detent over. Not a big deal. Get it in no troubles. Take the truck for a spin and same old song, right won't release. So I jammed my razor knife in a shave sides of the hole down where the detent keys and it works. Releases just fine now. But more issues popped up. Cam wants to be a hair passed the detent on both sides or the lights won't come on. I assume the contacts aren't in the same spot by just a bit. Did notice something odd that may help someone troubleshoot their signals later. Rear signals come one just before the light on the dash and the fronts.
After market parts suck. End of Rant
Anyone got a line on a decent switch? I could probably get by with waving my arms out the window for a couple of years, but after that I'm going to want a part that works.
I'll have to give that site a try. I know of a few honey holes, this just feels like a part that should be replaced with new, what with plastic aging like it does. Plus I feel it's about time for a crusade and we have a fighting chance if we corner the right guy.
It's a mystery brand name, but I think it was the only thing available then and now. I vaguely remember the black plastic collar in the middle was just a hair too thin. I cut a skinny washer from some thin nylon sheet and slipped that on the back. The switch itself and my little tweak have worked fine all this time.
I forgot the obvious difference, the key on buzzer signal wire. I added all of that stuff to my truck, so that's the one I'll use. Plus it's cheaper. I'm beginning to think the price for my at $80 is just because there are only two, maybe three brands available and they are all made in the same factory.
Shee-Mar is a US company most all of their stuff is made in the US they are an OEM for various manufactuers and were (are maybe still are) one of Fords primary suppliers for turn signal and multifunction switches, in the 80's and in to the 90's basically all of Fords turn signals and multifunction switches were supplied by them. Check their web site as everything that was OEM and has been obsoleted by the manufacturers they sell direct.

Thanks for the info. When I saw "Shee-Mar" brand at RockAuto, I just figured it was some hokey aftermarket brand from who knows where. Never figured they were the OEM supplier. Who'd have thunk, me not knowing something? Odd, I know. I'm as shocked as the rest of you.
New switches are in the mail. Got on NPD today, I'm not sure I've ever been on there, they got a lot of stuff I didn't know you could still buy. While scrolling through the bullnose parts I found this https://www.npdlink.com/product/swit...0000%26year%3D

I was getting ready to rant some more because I haven't heard anything about my order. Just checked on it, I never submitted it. Been waiting for them to arrive all week lol
