Long Time, No See

Hey guys! Don't know if any of you remember me, but I parted ways after selling my '68 F-100 Ranger about three years ago.

As you might be able to guess, I'm back for a reason. I'm in a position where I no longer need to commute to work, all I need a car for now is running around town and for just plain ol' pleasure rides. I have a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo that I've been driving (good car, I just don't really like it) to keep the miles off the convertible but now that I'm going to have a service truck that I'll be taking home every day I have literally zero reasons to keep it other than towing the motorcycle to the mountains. What all his means is that not only am I in a position to own an old bumpside again, I REALLY REALLY want to own an old bumpside again. It doesn't hurt that I'm also A LOT more financially stable than I was a few years ago. I'm going to go look at a '67 today (I know, I know... a lot of strange one model year parts) and I honestly cannot wait to have a truck that I can drive regularly.

Requirements? V8, manual of some sort, and RED. Even if it's not red though, I've got a brand new Mac spray gun just itching to be used.

Trying to find as little cancer as possible in a running truck for around $3k. Also, can I just say that prices for these old trucks have gotten ridiculous lately? Seriously, some people are asking $4k for a rusted out shell without an engine in m area. If you guys have any good deals in the greater Raleigh area, let me know. Until then, it's good to be back.

At least you in the southern end of the mid-atlantic area where there are a lot more trucks to be had for that price. Or at least within driving distance.

Pulled the trigger on the '67. Runs and putts around under its own power. Needs to be wired up completely (there was an electrical fire in the dash) and a few cancer spots and it'll be ready to run.

Yep! Almost all of the trim is there. The only thing that it's really missing are the HVAC controls. Those are probably a nightmare to find for these '67s.

Snatched it up for $2k. It's still a little more than what I wanted to spend for this condition, but he was starting at $3k and you can't get much more than a shell around here for $2k, much less a running one with only minor cancer. The bed is shockingly decent.

Not sure if the 68-72 controls will work or even if you would want them. That's a personal preference, but if they would swap in they would at least have you on the road until you found the correct stuff.

You'd have to cut a massive hole in the dash to make that work, since the '67s just use three small holes for the individual *****.

Welcome back and congrats on the new truck. It looks really nice.
I have a 67 as well. The ***** and controls are definitely hard to find.
I was looking for new bezels for my truck and have recently started looking into reconditioning the ones that I have.
Looking is half the fun, right? That's what I keep telling myself.
Have fun with it.

Considering how much research I love to do, I probably won't mind.

Hello. Long time, no see. Again.

Lots changed since I last popped on. Moved to a new house with my lady, career changes, yadda yadda.

But after doing a lot of stupid work, the truck is on the road. There's still a long, long, long list of little stuff that needs to be done. BUT she's going down the road. I got her going just good enough to win a bet. Seriously. My boss has a '79 C10 that he's fixing up and I bet him that I'd get my truck on the road first. Welp, I won. Should've actually put money on it...

List of stuff done to it:
- Complete rewire head-to-toe
- Clutch release bearing
- Shocks
- Three-point seat belts
- Engine intake stuff
- Man it's been five years and I don't really remember everything. I've just been chipping away at it little-by-little

List of stuff that still needs to be done:
- Brake lines
- Radiator
- Radio (real back burner)
- Front body mounts
- Rear window
- Speedo cable
- Just a bunch of little crap
