Serpentine conversion

Anyone got any reference to changing the v belt pulleys over to serpentine? 84' 351w with power steering and a/c.

One way to do it would be to grab:
1. A/C-Power steering bracket
2. Alternator--Tensioner bracket
3. Crank pulley, fan, misc idlers etc

All from a 1987-1997 ford truck/bronco 351w.

That's it just install and torque to spec and use original hardware.

What a pain and for what? I will admit it would be nice to have if you have a 3G and really need the power of a 3G alternator. But other than that, I see it as a liability. I have seen too many vehicles stranded on the side of the road because one little thing went wrong and ruined the serpentine belt. Bearing in the A/C clutch. If it goes bad on a v-belt truck, just take the belt off and keep going. On a serpentine setup, your stranded. Idler bearing goes bad, your stranded.

Serp belt

In my case i dont have any 351 front brackets for vee belts , i didnt want a 2g alternator causing a fire, or melt down , i had a spare 1990 5.8 , im am sure with new bearings and pumps etc it will last me a long time and look very tidy , i dont think i have ever seen a charge ameter gauge ever move , be better off with a volt meter . I am running Motec ecu and like good lights etc . Millions of cars and trucks with serp drive setup , .Cheers

My thoughts exactly.
Heck, while I have my engine out I'm putting in an override for the oil pressure/starter safety switch.

One option is to use the serp system from the mid 80's Panthers no idlers no auto tensioners separate serp belt for the A/C. This was the original and first serp system used by anybody.
