It appears this is a gouge in the seat but for the life of me I can't remember it happening or even having something in my pocket that would do that. I happened yesterday, there was no tear and then there was one. Can something like that be repaired? It is on the grey trim piece which feels like a paper thin vinyl or plastic.
That’s all I had for a guess. Maybe some of the upholstery guys can weigh in on a repair. I know there are companies where I live that could do it so I’m sure it’s possible.
I do a lot of upholstery work on the side. Household and automotive.
This is repairable in a couple of levels.
Cheapest to most expensive.
1. Dye maker to mask the gouge.
2. Add a small section of fabric to cover the gouge. Obviously it will not match so I would select an accent color. and I would do this to both seats to make it look like it was supposed to be there.
3. replace the seat.
4. replace the panel. Very difficult to do so because that type of fabric does not re-sew well, once a hole is made by the needle it's permanent. finding the exact color matched material of OEM will be difficult. All or nothing. This is most expensive due to the labor cost of having someone else do the work.
If it were my truck, option 2 would be my first choice.
..option 3 would be my choice, although it wouldn't require the entire seat to be replaced, just the cover.
Sorry, that's what I meant, just the fabric not the perfectly good frame. Although, I've done some work on a 2014 F-150 and the whole seat was more inexpensive than purchasing factory coverings. New takeoffs and good used ones can be had relatively cheap....right time and right place is the key.
I did something like this a few yars ago in a Mustang seat that I had. No, it was not anywhere near perfect, but was better than having a hole in the seat.
Did you happen to buy one of those paint protection/interior treatment packages? If so, it might be covered to some extent. A couple of years ago I sat down on my, at the time, almost new Subaru Legacy leather seat with a quick square in my back pocket. It tore a 2" L cut into the seat bolster. The package that I had replaced the entire seat leather cover at no additional cost to me.

I bought an ESP but I don't think it covers anything like this. I will have to look. We had our fifth wheel and bass boat at a local lake this week. I was in and out of the truck several times and never noticed the tear. It kind of sticks out and is hard to miss. We launched the boat Wednesday afternoon and when we came back to load is when I first noticed it. I just can't imagine how it happened. The wife did catch a 4 pound bass if that counts for anything.
