EGR and Computer

Ok..Well I dumbed down my truck 84-f150 300 .went to duraspark to get timing advance back since my TFI system was not functioning..granted now I found out that the EEC power relay is non-existent. Explains why it doesn't work

I have a dumb'd down carb..so TPS/Stepper motor Feedback solenoid..now if I get the EEC power relay hooked up..will my EGR system still work...or sicne the comptuer is going to be putting out codes will it just be in open loop and nothing work.

"smarting" my truck back up is not an option for me..basically because I don't want to and I'm eventually going to go to swp in an offy intake/header.etc..and system is going to be dumb anyway.

i'm in SW Virginia..i'm not too concerned with inspection

Thanks,
John

If the egr does work, it probably won't work right. You say you are going to get an intake and header. You need to get an aftermarket carb, and then you should not have to worry about the egr, and can just block it off. If you can afford it, try to get the carb now, or get an old 1 bbl off and older non-egr truck. If you get a nice aftermarket carb, maybe you could run an adapter plate to the old manifold if you had to, till you get the new intake manifold.
