I got this 87 Bronco about 4 months ago and I am about to get everything fixed -- execpt the horn & cruise. From what I can search and find on here it is the clock spring! Can anyone explain how to replace it and what is the actual name of it? ----------- 1987 EB Bronco--302- aod-- 3:55- 31X15.5X15 Duelers Revos---Thanks --Jerry--
Treehugger--- I replaced the fuse and got the brake lights and lighter to work but nothing else! I am NOT familar with the insides of the colume and what it does in there. The guy that had it before me had a ignition actuator replaced by Midas and they RIPPED him off($300.00Labor). I don't know if they messed something else up in there or not. I guess I'll know when I pull the wheel and see whats in there. Thanks --Jerry--
I know when I took my wheel off there were two detachable clips on the wires... kinda like ones on some speakers instead of sodder (sp?). They might have just been stupid and not connect them back when they took off his wheel.
You are right. He did get ripped. My Actuator broke and I had to call a mechanic to come out and have a look at it. They removed it, jerry rigged my module onto the bottom of my dash so I could start it without a key so that I could drive the 3 hr trip home. and then put everything back. spent well over an Hour diagnosing and labor and everything and charged me 40 bucks I think. I put the new one in my self and the part was like 12 bucks from Ford.
Thanks Treehugger-- Just got in from Detroit and its been a long day. (Expedite Driver) Back up there early in the morning so I hope I can tear into it as soon as I get back. I'll let you know what I find. And yes they charged him $39.oo for the actuator and $300.oo to put it in!! Thanks --Jerry--
