2008 f-250 5.4l v8 no crank no start anti-theft flashing
Hey everyone,
I bought a former fleet truck and I’m trying to get it running to turn into my hunting rig. Was told it ran great all winter, parked for a month and then it wouldn’t start. I’m probably in over my head but want to give her a go.
Issue: turn key, cluster lights up, sometimes will display kms and one time fuel showed up as half. Anti-theft light is blinking rapidly. Check engine light, tire pressure monitoring is on,transmission fluid light on. No crank, no start, just a single click from the passenger side fuse box.
has a new battery, new solenoid/starter. Cleaned and put dialectic grease on the terminals. Checked all the fuses and they’re good. From a bit of research, looks like it could be PATS or the PCM.
here’s the kicker, I only have one key, doesn’t look like it has a chip in it. But apparently that’s what worked before for a few years. Lights, blinkers, fan, all that kind of stuff is working.

Try swapping the Run/Start relay with an identical, non-critical relay of the same type. Mark them first!
An '08 Super Duty should have PATS (unless the originals fleet buyer special ordered without it). The cluster and the PCM must both power up correctly for PATS prove-out to be successful. If the cluster doesn't initialize properly, PATS will fail and the truck won't be going anywhere without a tow truck.
