last year at the Grand Nationals I bought a rear view mirror with a built in back up camera... worked out of the box so I installed it. Now the front camera works but the rear doesn't. The led lights work but no signal from the rear camera to the mirror... anybody got one of these or advise on troubleshooting. Strictly Chinese and no instructions or help online... what you can find is useless...here's what I bought
Not familiar with the brand you have there. Had one on a E450 at work, we would get a couple of years out of the cameras then they would need to be replaced. My guess you have a bad camera. Most likely you can replace the whole set up for less than a camera.
Best of luck,
I have a back-up camera that stopped working as well. Mine isn't integrated into the rear view mirror like yours but works through my GPS. I flip back and forth between the two modes by voice command or with a switch. After only a few thousand miles, the camera no longer works. I'm hoping it's just a bad connection, but haven't looked into it yet.
I've traced all the wires and all seems in order, the video cable has a connector at the camera end that is 1/4" in diameter and has 6 pins in it. My meter probes are about 10 times the size of the pins. The mirror end is
mini usb with 5 pins (don't know what happened to the sixth wire. it would be almost impossible to 'ring' out this cable for continuity without making up some breakout connectors that I could clip onto. And then run 15' of wire or test lead to test continuity.. OldB might have the best option. I also found out I got screwed on the price from the vendor at the Grand Nats. Fool me once...
I have a wireless backup cam on my F350 that I bought at Costco. Perfect for hooking up my trailers. Have had it for about three years with no issues. Also have the same cam installed on the skid steer with no issues.
