I'm thinking about replacing the wheels on my stock suspension 1976 4X2 and looking for information on the limits I need to be mindful of. Not finding much that is specific to the dent side trucks. I'm thinking that I want the rear wheels to be wider than the front.
Since the wheel pattern is 5 X 5.5, selection is limited. Here are my options for CRAGAR SERIES 08/61 S/S SUPER SPORT:
15 X 6 zero offset 3.5" back space
15 X 7 zero offset 4.0" back space
15 X 8 -13 offset 4.0" back space
15 X 10 -32 offset 4.25" back space
The front wheels will need a spacer to clear the disc brakes. I think that the 0.25" spacer will be sufficient but they also offer a 0.50" spacer. The offset is millimeters so the conversions are: 13 = 0.511811 32 = 1.25984 These offsets being negative means that the mount surface is rearward of the wheel centerline. Back space is the distance from the mounting surface to the rear lip of the wheel.
So should I not consider one of these wheels because it won't fit? Will 15 X 10 on the rear not work? Will 15 X 8 on the front not work?
Not what you asked for but these are 18x10s with a 295 40 18 tire which is 11.5 inches wide and I had to widen the wheel wheels to get the clearanse I wanted for suspension travel or if i get wider wheels someday. It's a different xle and off set then your asking about but shows you an 11.5 tire I had about 3/8 inch between tire and wheel well before widening them.
This photo makes it lok like there is alot more clearance then there is
+24mm offset but have a crown vic axle so I'm not sure how that compares I ended up adding 2.5 inches to the inner wheel wells. I problem could have gotten away with what you show with the perfect offset wheels bit I might go wider and taller with a drag radial someday so I went the way I did look at the my 73 thread and it shows how I widened them. Hopefully someone with your size wheel and axle will chime in and give you a better idea.

Aaah, so we're talking about what they call "tubbing" no?
Correct I should have just said that lol. If it's something you want to do I will give you alot more room and after reading you build today it's nothing you can't handle

OK good and thanks for the vote of confidence. My problem is that I am stuck in Florida when my truck is hundreds of miles away in Georgia. What used to be a simple matter of going to my shop and making a few measurements is now impossible. I am constrained to acquiring parts that will likely fit without benefit of that real life feedback. Without the good folks on FTE to advise as you have I couldn't make any progress. Thanks again.
