Hole in the transmission with this thing in it?

can transmission fluid leak out of this hole? What is that thing?

What year, model, engine and transmission?
My guess is the hydraulic line for the clutch and the hole has been busted out more.
And you need to connect the plug for your backup lights.

Looks like a Mazda CORRECTION--ZF 5 speed with the hydraulic line going in to the throw out. As above, busted hole.

If it could leak, it would be. That is in to the bell housing, or clutch housing part of the transmission.

Ditto. Nothing wrong, looks like someone got a bit zealous with replacing the line? Or pulling transmission and broke the casting. Nothing there to leak. No worries.

94 died f250 5.8. is that what that red connecter is the backup lights?

Its the stock 5 speed, says does on the side of it. I didn't realize it was the line for the clutch tho thanks bro

Correction: ZF has the diagonal ribs, Mazda are vertical/horizontal. An F250 would almost always have the ZF, iirc very few had the Mazda but I can't recall the particulars. Light Duty?

Anyway, OP has a ZF.

Yep, the loose wire plug connects there.
