Oil Pressure Drop

Hello all,
New to this forum. I have a 1978 F-250 with a 351M and C6 auto, bone stock, 165,000 miles. Starts first click of key every time.
All of a sudden, I am losing oil pressure at least my stock guage tells me , it runs in the normal range then all of a sudden, it will drop below L, never to return. I am thinking sender but what other area shold I test to see if I truly am dropping oil pressure.
Almost rebuild time anyway... Thanks.

Connect a mechanical gauge in place of the factory sender. Hopefully, it's only in the gauge (or wiring) and not really losing all the oil pressure.

Ok I got a gauge to install. Where is the stock sending unit located? Is the stock one electrical? Thanks.

The stock sending unit is electric.

Oil pressure sending unit is located on the top rear of the block, behind the intake manifold.
