I found a 1959 Mercury M100, it is rough, no interior, just dash and gauges that are removed, the grill and lights are there, no windshield or rear glass, the drive train is all there, it is a 4wd. The guy selling it said it was running a year ago when they parked it. I tried turning it over with the crankshaft bolt but it would not budge. There is oil in the engine but nothing moves at all. He got it from his son in law who said the engine, transmission and transfer case all work. The frame looks solid, but the body defiantly will need a lot of work.
Any idea how rare this is and what it may be worth. I have never really looked at a large project truck like this and the idea is to build it with my son so that he can learn.
I called the guy and it was in the glove box, thanks for the tip, can anyone decode it can't seem to find a source to decode a CDN Vin.

As for the rarity of this truck and desirability (2 separate things)
Given this truck was Canadain production already makes it less common as Oakville produced about 10% as many trucks as were made in the U.S. Since this is a Mercury this it makes more desirable. Contrary to popular belief
the production split between Ford and Mercury was not to far off 50/50 for light trucks Some regions sold more Mercury's than Ford's and Vise Versa. it just depended on the dealer networks available in those regions.
But Mercury's are considered more scarce than Ford's. Since this is Deluxe Cab Mercury that makes it quite uncommon throw in the fact that it is also 4x4 well you would be hard-pressed to find a more rare combination. Short of it being a style side or an express box, this is just about as rare as you could get and also very desirable.
An M100 deluxe cab 4x4 I bet you could count the existing survivors of this build configuration on both hands and have fingers left over
Is it worth saving and restoring? Absolutely.
I can't place a value on it as pricing is very regional across Canada and we have no idea where you are located.
Can you tell me what a 5 means for the first number as far as engine size?
What engines were available for this truck, it has the inline 6 in it currently.
I am in N.S. if that helps with a rough value?
First Digit being a 5 indicates, Mercury 6 Cylinder.
Incomplete with a seized incorrect motor/drive line $1000-1200 if the cab is not rusted out then maybe a bit beyond that. The only thing giving that sort of price is the fact that it is a deluxe mercury with 4x4
if it was a 2wd Ford standard cab it is a $4-500 unit and pretty much just parts.
