It's officially and SUV, but many will refer to it as an SUT .. Sport Utility Truck. Make your own conclusion. It's very room like a SUV, but has the capabilities of a truck.
You'd probably fit in there... Good luck finding the safety latch in the dark ;-)
Actually, you can fit plenty. It's much bigger than you'd think. It is at least as useful as those itty bitty trucks they call rangers and S-10's. The ST is bigger because it is built not from a ranger as some say but from the Explorer, so it's bigger, and definately much more useful. My biggest, tallest friends fit in the back seats and are surprised with how much room it has. They're shocked!
In my opionion it is a truck. Unlike as suv where I really cant put anything dirty in the back without worrying about the carpet or put a sofa of mattres. I can in the ST
I guess I view it the same as with a SuperCrew... they both have four doors and a bed - and the SCrew is a truck.. therefore the ST is a truck.
Ford, however, lists the ST in their SUV section - not the truck section. (And Illinois insists that they are licensed as a truck - plates cost the same whether it's a car or a truck...)
I refer to my Sport Trac as a ****, Sport Luxury Utility Vehicle.
Different states refer to it as either an SUT or an SUV, and yes the insurance differs in these states depending upon what that state considers it.
Ford considers it an SUV, and most states DMV's consider it a truck. You say Tomatoe, I say Tomatoe, doesn't really matter, I still love my Sport trac.
