It is a Eaton axle, they were the only ones with the bulge in the rear cover that resembled a 9" Ford.
They did install locking diffs in medium duty trucks but only ones I know of were single speed diffs, the 68 C-850 former fire truck I owned had a Eaton single speed axle with Detroit locker.
Brake drums for those old axles are pretty much no longer available anymore.

Thanks for the info. But, in addition to me deciding not to work on the axles/suspension, I decided to not proceed with ANY work. I looked closer at the swap job in it's such a hack job I don't want anything to do with any of it.
To make to the suspension fit somebody in the past torch-cut the frame and arc welded bits and pieces of steel and angle to make it fit. It doesn't belong on the road, it belongs on a farm!
This was supposed to be a quick two week project. If I had 6 months to a year to devote time to a long term project like this I wouldn't mind cutting off the rear section of the frame and grafting on a new one along with the correct suspension and axle. Just like I've done when converting a long bed truck into a short bed.
One of my buddies is a retired shop owner. One of his favorite snarky comments of what it would take to put that right is to say “all ya gotta do is......”.
And thinking back to your first post, did you figure out what was done to the front axle to get the 22.5s to fit? Might be equally scary. Stu

I've done some conversions like removing the sleeper and converting a Peterbilt to a day cab along with shorting the wheel base 45", have a 93 F-800 road tractor we'll be adding 2' to the frame in order to add a dump bed.
But adding F-600 axles to a light F-350 chassis isn't on my todo list.
