Dumb guy
Ok the manual says the PCM is at the driver's kick panel when you read the fuel system chapter and then it says the PCM is under the instrument panel when you read the engine electrical chapter. Is the PCM the brain? Why two locations? I have a basket case '93 f150 4.9l. I've been to the junkyard and my truck is missing the box under the instrument panel. What is the box I'm missing. Thanks for any info to help an idiot.

Power Control Module or EEC is at driver’s kick panel by the emergency brake....its under the instrument panel.
thats what your truck is missing?
You have been to the junk yard and found the part?

It is technically "behind the kick panel" BUT you actually take it out from the engine bay and it is easier if you partially remove the wheel splash shield to be able to slide it out. remove 10mm bolt for wiring harness, then two 10mm nuts holding the seal in place then slide out the computer. Just did this on a 1994.
