O2 Wiring gone.

I have an 88 F-150 W/302 and the previous owner (as he has a lot of things) cut the wires to the O2 sensor. There is three wires sticking out of the sensor, two whites, and a black. The closest empty connector on the frame I find with three wires is up zip tied to the crossmember with the connector trashed (looks like it dragged the pavement.) I am wanting to hook it back up, what readings should the sensor give, to know its good, and what color are the wires that go to it from the computer.
Thanks a bunch guys!

I'm skeptical that you can just hook that back up and it will work. How long has it been bare? If the wires started to corrode at all it will affect the readings the sensor puts out since the wire will have more resistance than what is spec'd for. I'd say new sensor and new wire as far back as would seem appropriate (ie where the corrision stops)

I'd have to agree with markus. The O2 sensor only registers a voltage that varies between .01-1.0 volts. That low a voltage is going to be severely impacted by high resistance through corroded wiring. If all looks good, I'd rewire it back up for sure. It's a necessity to the computer to keep the right air/fuel mixture.

Good luck.

Replace the sensor. Definitely. The three wire sensor is the heated kind. It is really important to have a working O2 sensor. The truck will run really poorly without it
