I have a 2002 Ford Ranger and I’ve been having trouble with it it goes into gear but it won’t move so I checked the valve body and the gasket was blown out so I bought a new valve body and a new gasket and I replaced it but it still isn’t working. Does anyone know what I can do about it or what it might be?
Make sure the fluid level is correct, then check for tranny line pressure Might also help to know how / under what conditions you think the valve body gasket came to be blown out.
If you have, or can borrow, or come by the inexpensive ELM scan tool & running FORScan diagnostic freeware on the viewing device of your choice as discussed here, https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-scantool.html & have it scan for trouble codes, as this powerful combo can access & query All of the vehicle computer / controllers, including the tranny & GEM controllers, for trouble code clues, then post All code Numbers, as they can help focus a trouble shoot. Some beginning thoughts for consideration, let us know what you find.

What's your transmission code? 5R55E? Something else?
Does the 2002 fall under the TSB for blown valve body gaskets and parts upgrades to deal with bad pressures?
Also, on my 5R55E, the square transmission electrical connector had a lot of glazed electrical pins and I'm pretty sure that's what caused similar problems for me.
