I am restoring 12" dog dish hubcaps on my 1971 F250 Camper Special. I am piecing them together and I just ordered a second set of two. The second set is about an inch deeper than the first. Any ideas as to why there are two depths or the purpose originally intended?
GLR is correct ! Had my 69 since new - have the painted style dog dishes - sent them out to have the black part repainted after repaint of the silver . Tried to put one on the back and it wouldn't fit . Then relized they were different ! You learn something new every day !
So basically I got lucky then? Haha. Yes it’s a 3/4 ton F250 Styleside.
I measured the caps and it’s about a half inch more out in the rear - but just wasn’t sure if it was for that or maybe for the front of the 4x4 as they stick out way more.
im doing the black restoration myself and it’s not easy! A labor of love.

I would realy like to know how Ford painted the black in when the were new . So what determined if you got the painted or the Stainless finish ? Trim package ?
