B1 Lancer Bomber. Called the BOne for the B-one designation. Maiden flight on Dec 23, 1974. One of 3 heavy strategic bombers on active USAF duty. Around Mach 2 IIRC.
Thank you...cleaning out basement and found that photo (10X12) in a box. I think it was taken at Ault Field, NAS Whidbey Island, WA back in the 70's. Not far from Boeing Field.
I was Stationed at Whidbey in the 70's and that isn't the Naval Air Station Whidbey I remember. They don't have Sagebrush around Whidbey. Not sure which base that is for sure but it is in a desert and not the Puget Sound. Those hangers and the ATC tower sure look familiar though.
I was leaning towards Edwards but, just wasn't sure. Looking through my photo albums the other day, it didn't really match up with anything. There again, with a lot of the stuff we were doing during that time frame of my service career, camera's were not exactly something you wanted to get caught with.
We did some joint service AGM and ASM testing at Edwards when I was stationed with Naval Weapons Center / Pacific Missile Test Center with the Navy.
