Can someone tell me what the part in the red box below is called (I'm calling it throttle cable plate for lack of a better name) and possibly where to find one? Is a junkyard my only option? Does anybody have one they want to sell?
This is for a '91 F150 5.8L (though I suspect the 5.0L is the same).
You are referring to the plate all the cables and the black plastic cover mount on? If so I think that is a good description and yes they are the same on 5.0 and 5.8 motors and also the scrapyard is your best(possibly only) source for it.
Yes sir, the plate with the cables and black plastic cover. I was afraid of that...I like going to scrapyards, but I don't get to very often due to having two young children that occupy most of my free time.
I think there is one on my old engine I threw a rod in a few years ago. It'sin my storage unit, so can't check til the weekend.
I don't know if the black cover is on it either.

RockAuto.com shows a different accelerator cable for a '91 5.8L and '93 5.8L, but the end that mounts in the throttle bracket looks the same... so, it might still work.
Actually, from the pictures the cables appear to be identical except the '93 cable is about 1.25 inches longer.
If you still have the one from your 93 I'd be interested in buying it and giving it a try.
The different length is probably due to the revision to the pedal assembly. As long as as the bracket end is a match you are good. There is a push through style where the bracket has a hole, and a push on style where the the bracket has a U shaped slot.
I went and got it this afternoon.It was already off the engine so don't have the bolts for it.
