I have a 93 F250 XLT equipped with cruise control and the steering wheel is roached! It had a crappy cover on it that was in bad shape and when I took it off the leather on the actual wheel is worn down to the rubber. I am curious what my options are. Should I buy a leather cover kit from ebay and attempt to re-wrap it my self? Should I look for a used model in good shape? I don t really like the look of the stock wheel and would like to replace it with an aftermarket option, but I don't want to loose my cruise control controls.
Im sure some of us have run into this problem before? Im open to any and all thoughts or opinions.
I’ve seen those wraps. Was it difficult to get it to look even or get the seam to match the factory seam? And what about the spokes on the wheel, how does it deal with wrapping around those.
I think it looks pretty close to factory. I went over top of the original leather for a little bit thicker grip. I just did dummy stitches around the spokes so it looks like it goes all the way around. When finished, it was still pretty tight around the spokes.
i asked on fsb if its possible to convert the cruise over to a stalk mounted unit like a gm. i never got a clear answer. wood wheel would look great in a bko.
