Trim behind running board
Has anyone done anything for this ? I'm currently working on mounting a pvc trim board to the flat part of OEM 2020 Lariot F-250 fixed running board (chrome pkg.) mounts. It's about 3" from back edge of inside edge of running board, mounts have nice flat outward facing area perfect for mounting to. I tried butting to inside edge of running board with trim piece and running under rocker panel between pinched flanges it looked off, boxy, and to enclosed.
I'll either wrap the trim piece or paint it black. I'd like to make it look like the black plastic ends on the running boards same as the rest of all the other pebble textured plastic.
I do not want to raise running boards as they would be way to high to be functional. I think it's drop down is just right.
The boards I had on my previous (2015 250 Lariot had a molded back (factory), were all black plastic. I liked them but they weren't as dropped down as the current ones and nothing else is.
I mocked up something along the frame rail front to back between tires but it looked retarded. I think the best look will be not going beyond the length of running boards and using flat outward face of running board mounts for mounting trim piece.
The 2020's come with the filler piece behind the cab length running boards. I have extended length so did not get the filler piece. It looks like the filler can be ordered from Ford or you could go the Gatorback route.
