I called the place to check them out and he told me what they do. $400 sounds like a lot of money, but your truck never has to go anywhere so there really is no down time. As far as the quality of work and hopefully touted durability of emblems it would be hard for a guy like me to achieve that, and if I did it would take quite a bit of time. Personally, I'd rather change my oil or brakes than do such painstakingly minute work. Thanks for the picture it's a great closeup.
pop them off, scuff them, clean them, adhesion promoter, color of your choice, clear coat pop them back on. i did mine in satin black, turned out nice on my magnetic metallic? color
How do you keep the paint off the recessed black background behind the numbers? Meticulous taping? That's the part of this project that seems hard and makes the $400 price palatable.

The part comes apart into pieces
retro customz is a popular company that does the color matching. I plan to send both my ovals out and the two side markers
Trim doesn't come apart ( not uncommon for me to break a tab on some trim I take off) like your caliper off your steering knuckle. Bonded, riveted, adhesives. plastic spot welded, crimped can be very detailed breaking pieces down not pulling off.
If you do it yourself let me know how it goes ( not so I can do it, I won't ) just curious.
I had a few pieces done by Retro Customz (front and rear emblem, mirror caps, door handles, fender emblems) Top notch customer service and a real good job on the parts.
Looks good Absolute. How did the squirt nozzle go reinstalling ?
Thanks! Went well, honestly went into it thinking it would be a lot harder, was pleasantly surprised haha. Not bad at all, just a couple screws and use a small flathead to pop the squirt nozzle cap off.

I won't be doing it myself. Pulled it off to inspect. The pieces are heat staked in so you have to either melt them off or grind them down (found another thread mentioning this). Then re-melt or glue them back on. I don't have the time to do that with two toddlers at home so I'll probably just pay to have it done. Toying with the idea of buying the black Sport version, but I have a Platinum and you can only get the the Lariat version in black. $130 vs $400 for painted. Decisions, Decisions.

If you can deal with some missing badges for a little, Retro Customz is reasonable if you send stuff in. Fender emblems are $65-75 ea, door handles $125, front emblem $125, mirror caps $100.

Been there done that haha..Drove around my brand new Platinum with paper plates and no grille, no mirror caps, no emblems, no door handles, and no fuel door for about a week while my paint shop did their thing. Got some weird looks, but hey, it was worth it.
