Going to be replacing a fuel tank on a 1974 F100,19 gal. aft. tank. The guy wants to go with Rockauto because of price. Anyone have any dealings with them for a tank or know of any other places to look to? Going to replace sending unit and the filler to tank rubber hose along with vent hose. Thanks for the input 👍
Replaced both aft and midship tanks from rock auto. No problems at all. They also sell sending units for the aft tank. I got the hoses from lmc. Its very easy to put the hoses on backwards, won't fit on the filler neck if you do.
Thanks for the replies. Didn't think about the poly tank. Thanks. We are going to take the bed off. He's going to do a little work on that and guessing it will be easier getting to work on the tank replacement. Found out it has the vent valve on top of the tank also. Will be getting a new one of those also.

I had extensive rust in the main tank (aft axle) on my 1976 F-250. As did the Red Baron, I replaced it using the MTS 4250 tank from Bronco Graveyard. It was the best price I could find. They also had other tank accessories available. It fit well, and so far is working well. And rust should no longer be a problem.
Test the sending unit before wrapping it all up. I replaced my 19 gal tank and sending unit. Was somewhat a PITA. All good, except the fking sending unit was bad - now I have to drop it again. Joy

i went with orielleys just in case it was wrong. Got it next day @ comparable prices.
Thanks guys. We will check out the local auto parts stores. I'm guessing that all the sending units are not American made any longer. Hate the Chinese made crap also. Thanks again.
jdt, where did you get the sending unit from?
If you don't mind me asking. Just wondering.
Thanks.
Ebay seller, so most likely not OEM quality - They DID send me a replacement free of charge, but that doesn't really help me TOO much since I have to drop the tank again fun)
Rebuilt Fuel Sending Unit Specialist I haven't used this service but would consider it since it sounds like the imports are not the best. There may be other similar services, I just kept this one in my favorites since someone recommended several years back.
