New to these old trucks
Hello
I recently bought a 69 f100.
long bed automatic with fe360
runs and runs so far albeit very rough (missing, backfiring, hot starting probs, etc.)
just finished carb rebuild hope to put it on tomorrow
changed out the turn signal switch — WHAT FUN!
bad exhaust leak
mufflers almost shot
Came with no side mirrors but had what looked like factory holes for three post western mirrors. I found some and exchanged all the hardware for stainless.
leaks oil from most everywhere. Think I’ll start w valve cover gaskets and go from there
looking forward to bouncing things off you fine folks

Welcome.
Im new too, but might be able to offer some advice about the missing and backfiring issue.
I did exactly what you did, I timed it and messed with the carb... same issues persisted.
I found some wires laying behind the engine that were connected to the distributor and coil had missing insulation and were shorting out. i fixed that and everything is fine. might wanna check that.
