Does any one have any pictures of the smog pump plumbing for an EFI bronco with a V8? I screwed up when I was removing the air valves and now I don't know how to put them back on correctly.
Just take off all the smog crap and the smog pump, it looks alot cleaner un der the hood without all that mess.
Well, Thats what I have always done, so I don't know how to put it all back together.
Sorry bro.
there should be 1 pipe coming from each head in the back that comes to a valve that then runs down to the smog pump. i cant remember the rest and i dont have a diggi cam yet.
First, what model year are we talking about? Some had a formed hose to the back of each head that came together then joined with the one from the catalytic converter at the diverter valve before running up to the back of the smog pump. Later years had a steel crossover tube running between the heads and one hose from the heads. No matter which, there should be a check valve between the cat and the diverter valve AND between the heads and the diverter valve. Without these check valves, hot exhaust gasses can back up into the air injection system and damage the diverter vavle and the formed rubber hoses. Without knowing the model year thats about all I can tell you. And even that info is less than complete.
It's an 89 5.0 with the steal tube attached to the back of the heads. There are 2 valves a big one and a small onewith 3 ports on each not including the vacuum port. One near the back of the heads and one near the smog pump. What I cant figure out is direction air should flow when there is no vacuum and which valve goes where.
