Hey figured id say hi to everyone im not new to forums but like the title says im new ro ford ones. So my goal here is to learn and connect with the ford community. Ive owned my 00 4.6 windsor expedition with a auto 4r70w for about a yr now. Bought it from the original owner with 208k it now has 222k. 4 days ago was going 75 on the highway i floored it to make a pass then boom huge cloud of smoke i was thinking oil pump or head gasket, nope not that lucky lol i pulled over immediately and noticed it was pissing out tranny fluid like Niagara falls all from the bell housing.
Had it towed and took me n my son 4 days to drop the tranny 1st timers 😆 that and youtube people suck had i just took the exhaust off from the getgo we prob woulda had it done in a couple hrs.... Anyways since the tannys out and the 220k plus the cova 19 bs going on why not do a father n sons project?
I wanna do a 4.6 to a 5.4 swap with 4v and eventually SC it but 1st I need some info on what to look for in the 5.4s as well as what does it take to accomplish this? I know i can use my tranny n computer but what else should i be using from the 4.6 to make the job go clean n quick? My original goal was to swap a cobra motor n tranny but they are hella expensive and im on a budget. I came across a post with the guy doing the 5.4 superchsrged and im like now that sounds bad ***! Im also wondering how hard would it be to make my auto into a stick?
Please be kind as I am new to building and i want this to be a fun project for my sons n I to enjoy for years to come. Any and all info is greatly appreciated as well as places to find good deals for everything

A 4V 5.4 and manual transmission will be quite an adventure in a 2000 Expedition. You'll probably want to post in the "1997 - 2003 F150" forum for some pointers on this. Either way, it won't be a plug and play swap as there were never 4V 5.4's in Expeditions or F150s.
