Just got a '97 Explorer EB with a beat up power antenna. What's the procedure for replacing either just the mast or the whole thing? Motor still works fine, mast only moves one section.
Do I have to go through the fender well to access it?
Thanks for any help!
Don't quote me on this but this is how i did a few of my old cars:
Unscrew the bolt at the base on top of the fender. You might need a special tool or needle nose pliers. Turn the radio on so the internals try to push the antenna up and just pull it out. Replacing is the opposit. Turn radio on, slide the new antenna in untill it wont go any more then turn the radio off so it will pull the new one in and screw the bolt back on.
Thanks, just popped off the plastic trim and I see three screws and a larger nut around the base of the antenna, I guess that'll get me to what I need.
