Trouble starting when warm

My dad thinks that it needs a ring job, but I just wanted to see what you guys think. When the motor is cold it will start up no problem, but after I drive it for a while and it is at running temperature, if I turn it off, wait a couple of minutes and try starting it, it will just spin, and spin, I tried full choke, I tried no choke, I tried half choke, the only way it will run is if I pump it a hole bunch of times then hold her to the floor. What do you guys all think???

Depends do you happen to have an edelbrock intake and carb on it?

No, actually I got the stock 2brl manifold and motorcraft carb.

It could be heat soak/fuel percolation. Boiling the gas out of the carb when it's shut down hot.
A compression test would verify if the rings were weak.
