Icp duty cycle

I have a 2000 7.3 zf6. Truck has been bucking in the lower gears and has a very slight miss while cruising. Icp duty cycle is reading .18 on startup and goes lower than that while warming up. Icp psi reads 730 on startup and goes down from there while warming up at idle. Is the icp possibly bad?

You can unplug the ICP and drive around to find out if the problem goes away.

Make sure the tinman nut on the IPR is tight tho. And try unplugging the fuel bowl heater

It's actually IPR duty cycle controlling ICP. IPR DC and ICP at steady-state idle should hover between 9-12% and 480-600psi. Like @Wes444 said, check that the tin nut on the back of the IPR is tight. What is your fuel pressure doing while the truck is bucking?

i have an sct tuner with gauges but i dont think it monitors fuel pressure...i also changed fuel filter a few months ago..i also notice truck runs better once i fill the tank up...just seems weird that it bucks as if fuel is getting cut off intermittently...i will have to try and check those sensors out...

Just did my ICP on my '01 with 273k on it. I wasn't having any driveability issues but noticed oil in the plug. Looked to be original. Pull the plug as mentioned to see if symptoms are better but if there is oil in it its time to change it.

will do. It can get quote confusing trying to see how all these sensors work together

Agreed. When I was researching mine I stumbled across this video that does a great job explaining how everything works. This really helped a guy like me who is semi new to the 7.3, hope it helps:

Fuel pressure is one parameter that is not monitored by OBD on our trucks unfortunately. You will have to either install an aftermarket fuel pressure gauge or do @SkySkiJason 's quick fuel pressure gauge that connects to the fuel bowl drain. The fact that it runs better after a fill-up leads me to believe your fuel pickup mushroom might have failed. Do the problems occur when the tank is getting down to 1/4? Have you performed the Hutch and Harpoon mods?

im not sure if it was the fact i filles up or if the truck was running a while that it got better. But i just unplugged my icp and it has oil in the plug so i left it unplugged and drove it...drives much better with it unplugged now

Replace the ICP sensor and pigtail with Motorcraft originals then.

Not too tight! You need a torque wrench. 53 in #'s according to RiffRaff
