I have. 2007 f250 6.0 4x4 should have high temp on my oil when towing 12000 lbs ? It is studded has coolant filter kit, I replaced the oil cooler with only ford parts. Please help temp is about 242 and climbing!
What coolant are you using now? When you changed the oil cooler did you flush the coolant with any chemicals? Using something like vc9 to clean the coolant system can cause stuff to break loose and quickly clog the oil cooler. What are the coolant temps when your oil temp is that high? It’s hard to narrow down a possible cause with only the one temp.
My guess is the vc9 loosened all that sediment/scale/whatever when you flushed and has broken free clogging the new cooler. Typically (assuming this isn’t what you did) flush the system with vc9, drive it a few months with the cooler you intend to replace, them replace the cooler after the loosened junk has had a chance to break free and catch in the old cooler. You’re right at the upper delta limit for your two temps. In an effort to not have to drop that money on a cooler again you might try back flushing it. YouTube has several methods. Basically run high pressure water the opposite direction of normal flow into a bucket to catch any crud. Especially if that stuff is newly lodged in the cooler it might clear out ok compared to stuff that has been building up for years.
Good luck. They can be a money pit for sure, but I wouldn’t get rid of mine unless I had no other choice. Read through the tech folder and get familiar with the ins and outs, check out diesel tech Ron and srmastertech on YouTube and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Once you know the problem areas and the do’s and donts of the engine it isn’t so much of a money pit
I know the 7K is painful but remember the new ones are from 60K up to almost six figures. Anyway you look at it these are not inexpensive trucks. I think you have a great truck. Russ
I would try giving the oil cooler a good backflushing first. If your problem is scale knocked loose by the VC9 you might get lucky and flushing will clean it out. If you are unsure of what I'm referring to just search it and you will find days worth of reading. I would also look into why the coolant temp was that high.
