wheel jack??

Hey all...

Maybe I'm just not thinking it out right, but when I went to lift the rear wheel (passenger side, not that it matters), there isn't nearly enough extension of the factory jack to lift the rear wheel. I can't see where there is a place even low enough to be able to lift the Bronco??? She's at stock height - as far as I know, and running 30 x 9.5's on her. I'm putting 31's on her in a couple of days, but the jack issue really perplexes me. Yeah, I've got a floor jack, but can't be toting that thing around in the back.

Any thoughts on this?

If its the jack I think you are talking about, you should be able to turn the top of the jack, (the part that actually makes contact to the truck), and it will raise up about another 5 inches. If this doesnt work, then figure out a way to to strap your floor jack to that back. Sorry.

Or you could just get a HI-Lift Jack that has a mount for your bumper. Out of the way, and you can always lift it high enough no matter what you have on it.

You ARE putting the jack under the axle, right at the spring, right?

The tubular telescoping jack on mine is a pain, for emergency use only. It takes forever turning the handle to get all of the sections to lift. And until it gets up to axle height, it wants to flip over with the torque of the handle turning. Not a nice experience. I hope I never need to use it on a rainy night

Torky2 is right, they literally suck except for an emergency. I was with my wife for lunch one 99 degree August day and had to change mine on a HOT blacktop parking lot. Bad day ! I have had 6 flat tires since the tornado hit here in Jackson, Tn. in May of this year and am ready to start killing shingle hauling people these days. Luckily, I only had to use the bottle jack once.

Good luck,

The bottle jack sucks rocks.

I couldn't get mine high enough up to raise the tire off the ground either. I ended up walking around in a mix of rain and snow looking for scrap wood to put under the jack to give it extra height. I'd have traded that experience for the hot blacktop one any day. I was soaked from the waist down from having to kneel in the wet snow and puddles of water to change it.

Do I have to mention that it was 30 degrees out that day?
