I know that there have been a lot of posts about what kind (steel or aluminum) spacers needed for my ‘05 Ex but does anyone know if the depth has to be 2” to use newer factory 18” or 20” F250/350 rims? Could one get by say with 1.5” spacers?

Hey Mike,
The actual difference between our wheel mating surfaces and late models is only 1.75", but with a spacer of that thickness you would have to trim your lug stud ends off so they don't contact the back of the new wheels affecting proper fitment.
Most folks have had good luck getting past that by using 2" thick spacers but a few have reported even then having to do a little lug stud grinding or moving into 2.25" spacers.
