Undercarriage Rattle

When my truck idles, there is a rattle (which has gotten progressively worse over the years) from underneath the body. It's not a tinny rattle, but sounds like something solid - like the exhaust system/muffler - vibrating against something else solid.

Anybody else have this problem? Anybody know how to fix it? Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome to FTE@!!!!!

Check for loose heat sheilds on the CATs. It is common for these
to loosen up, and they will rattle.

I got a 97 2.3 and it rattles good.

I also had the heat shield rattle that started out small but increased with time. I used a torch and welded it back together so it wouldn't rattle anymore. That was about two years ago and it is coming back again but still not very loud yet. I'll probably have to get on it again someday.
